Day 1: For the Love of Breathing: Pranayama Workshop

Please join us for an enlightening afternoon exploring the power of breath for enhancing physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing. Learn how to harness breath awareness to enter deep meditative peace with ease.
Beginning with a foundation in the physiologic principles underlying effective breath practices, we will move on to experiment with a variety of classical techniques from the yoga tradition as well as contemporary methods espoused in the latest literature. In the final session we will engage potent Tantric breath-based contemplative approaches for a direct experience of natural bliss.
Meet Mary Reilly Nichols
Mary Reilly Nichols has been teaching meditation, breath work and yoga philosophy for over 3 decades. She spent ten years teaching a breath based therapy in the treatment of stuttering and now teaches breathing, mindful practices and stress management in corporate and medical settings. She offers teachings on Tantric Philosophy, Kashmiri Shaivism and Vedanta at the Tibet House in New York City, for the online platform Embodied Philosophy, the New York Open Center and other venues, and speaks at international symposia sponsored by the Harvard Divinity School’s Center for the Study of World Religions.
Mary holds a BA in anthropology from Harvard University, and completed five years of residency in the meditation ashrams of Swami Muktananda both in India and in the US.

Sunday, October 13th from 12-3pm
Through posture, movement, breath work, mantra and working with subtle energy, Tantra is a truly body-positive path of paradox that trains the practitioner to receive the wisdom and ecstasy of non-dual awareness. In these sessions you will find that Yoga practiced with the understanding of it’s Tantric roots becomes a supercharged vehicle to liberation.
